Dr. Santosh Kumar is Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Assistant Dean of “Scholarly Integration and Collaboration” at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center-College of Pharmacy. His laboratory works with HIV and Drugs of abuse. Dr. Kumar group has been investigating the molecular mechanisms of alcohol- and smoking-induced HIV-1 pathogenesis and neuroAIDS. Recently, his group has also been examining the role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) in HIV-drug abuse interactions in the CNS systems as well as developing potential applications of EVs in drug delivery to CNS diseases. Dr. Kumar has published over 115 papers. His research is funded through several NIH grants. Dr. Kumar has mentored/been mentoring 5 post-doctorate fellows and 10 PhD students.
